Burn the lettering. Use a spear nib on a high temperature setting to burn the outline of the lettering and any additional elements. Work around the outside of each letter, leaving the letters themselves untouched but creating a dark outline. Work away from the lines of each letter, using random marks and scribbles to give a rough, chaotic appearance.

Burn the border lines. Use the bowl of a spoon point nib on a high temperature setting to create the same effect used for the lettering along the outside of each border line. Again, use loose, scribbled lines and marks to maintain the organic, rough texture across the surface.
